About Psiquiatra Gamer

Psiquiatra Gamer is a cultural-content project that reads video games and pop culture through the lens of psychoanalysis. The idea is simple and a little unusual: take the stories, characters and mechanics of the games we love and show what they reveal about the human mind.

It's written by Leonardo Sodré, a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and gamer. The analyses are original and theoretically grounded, drawing on thinkers like Freud, Melanie Klein, Bion, Winnicott, Lacan and André Green, but written for anyone, with no needless jargon and no self-help clichés. The psychological angle is the whole point: no gameplay recaps, no walkthroughs, just interpretation.

What you'll find here

Analyses of games and gaming-culture topics, published regularly on the site, plus videos on the YouTube channel, where the same themes take another shape. Site and channel complement each other: the text deepens the argument; the video brings the conversation.

An important note

All content here is cultural and educational — reflections on works of fiction and on gaming culture. It is not individual clinical advice, does not replace assessment, diagnosis or care from a health professional, and should not be used for that purpose. If you need help, please reach out to a qualified professional.
